These came right out of my cosmetology school book!!!

Myth 1: shaving, clipping,& cutting the hair makes it grow back faster, darker, & coarser.
Fact: shaving or cutting the hair has no effect on hair growth. When hair is blunt cut to the same length it grows back more evenly. Although that may make it seem to grow back faster, darker & coarser, shaving or cutting hair has no effect on hair growth.

Myth 2: Scalp massage increases hair growth.
Fact: there is no evidence that any type of stimmulation or scalp massage increases hair growth. Minoxidil & finasteride(prescription drugs for hair growth in men) are the only treatments that have been proven to increase hair growth & are approved for that purpose by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Myth 3: Grey hair is coarser & more resistant than pigmented hair.
Fact: Other than the lack of pigment, grey hair is exactly the same as pigmented hair. Although grey hair may be resistant, it is not risitant simply because it's grey, & it is not more than the pigmented hair on the same person's head. The pigmented hair on the same person's head is just as risitant as the grey hair. Grey hair is simply more noticable than pigmented hair

Myth 4: the amount of natural curl is determined by racial background.
Fact: anyone of any race, or mixed race, can have hair from straight to extremely curly. It is also true that within races, individuals have hair with different degrees of curliness

Myth 5: Hair with a round cross section is straight, hair with an oval cross section is wavy, & hair with a flat cross section is curly
Fact: cross sections of straight hair tend to be round & curlier hair tends to be more oval, but cross sections of hair can be almost any shape, including triangular, & the shape of the cross section does not always relate to the amount of curl or the shape of the follicle.(I'm not exactly sure what the cross section is lol & I can't find a defenition in the book either)
